Migrations

Land registration in Nova Scotia is rolling over from a rather antiquated system to a newer and more efficient system. The process of transitioning an individual property from the old to the new system is called “migration”. Certain events related to a property triggers a requirement to migrate a property. For instance, selling or refinancing a property trigger the migration of that property.

You may also migrate your property at a time of your choosing, for instance in anticipation of listing your home for sale a few months down the road. Some migrations can be complicated, so it is often wise to do so when you can spare the time and are not in a rush.
